■ Calculate the exact lateral spacing based on the

dimensions of the area to be irrigated with

subsurface drip.

A. Measure, in inches, the subsurface drip area at its widest

width.

B. The ﬁrst and last lateral perimeter spacings can be no

further than two to four inches from the conﬁning

hardscape or two to four inches outside of unconﬁned

landscapes. For this example we will use 4” spacing.

C. Subtract the sum of the perimeter spacings from the

width to determine the lateral area to be covered by

subsurface driplines.
